Ok before I tell the whole story, some of you might be a little mad lol or jealous.

Ok so I went to this really nice pet store called Clark's Pet Emporium, here in Albuquerque, and I got a bigger flight cage for Sapphire so she could fly around a bit. Well then I heard the chirps and kept telling myself no..no..no, but I walked over there anyway to check out their birds. Their parakeets were amazing, lots of differet colors and all guarentied under 5 months. The first on that caught my eye was a BEAUTIFUL violet one. But it was a female, but i was still in love with its beautiful violet color. Then when I was fixing to leave i saw a small yellowish blueish parakeet and it was a male. I asked the lady about him and she said they had just gotten a few new baby budgies in and he was one of them. He still has a bit of black on his beak(telling me that was from being a baby, the lady said). The other birds werent hanging around him and he seemed scared out of his mind. Sooo I bought him. I took him home and now Sapphire and him are inseperable. I cant even take Sapphire out of the cage without them calling to each other its so cute. I named him Sunny D because of his yellow(I was going to name him Eggie because he reminded me of an easter egg but i changed my mind.) What I want to know now is what mutation he is and if he truely is a male. Heres 4 pics of him in natural light outside except the last one where hes beside Sapphire. He was being a good boy and didnt have a heart attack like Sapphire did.

Beautiful baby! Looks like a sky blue yellowface type II greywing.

Looks like he may be a male, but we can't be 100% positive until the cere starts changing in a few months. Maybe his behavior will provide us some clues as he settles in.

Yea him and Sapphire are like so cute together. When he goes down to the food cup and eats a bit Sapphire's like screaming at him the whole time and when he get back up to her perch they start touching beaks( i call it kissing). Their so cute, hes very settled in and started eating some free spray millet the shop gave me and so I let them both eat on that for a bit and then took it away. And yesterday he finally started to eat the seed mix i have for them. One thing I know is his beak is very sharp and it kinda hurts when he nibbles on you and hes very messy when he eats so i put the hood over the seed cup today and I will see if they will still eat, because I know he likes to sit in the food while he eats it:/

Sunny is very very new, freshly weaned I would say. The dark on his beak will vanish quickly now. I would put him at... hmm...6-9 weeks with that much black left.  Still, every baby is different, he could be more. You will know when he is three months when he starts to shed feathers everywhere :P

Yea, wow i didnt think he was that young but hes so tiny and skinny lookin next to Sapphire. The second day we got him he started to eat the seed mix i give them so i was happy about that. Also sometimes him and Sapphire will like lock beaks and then jerk their heads sorta, is she trying to feed him or something?

She is feeding him. Regurgitation is a normal bonding activity in parakeets of any age!
